Five Knives

Technological advancement is the ultimate wrecking ball. First, video killed the radio star. Then, the internet killed the traditional music industry. And now technology is about to put its shit-kicker through the idea that Nashville is a country town. Hailing from Music City, electronic-punk rockers Five Knives are the perfect intersection of where good old rock n’ roll and electronic music meet. Their stuff is so fresh, that when they burst onto the scene in Nashville they were able to create the illusion that they were the hottest thing in town that you just hadn’t heard of yet – in order to see them you needed a password.

Their frenetic live show is far from pressing play on a computer. Front woman Anna Worstell bounds around the stage like a woman possessed wrapping herself in her mic chord and jumping from the kick drum and speakers. Electronic elements are recreated live by Zach Hall and Nathan Barlowe, who also handles guitar duties. All the while the beat is held down through the wizard-like drumming of Shane Wise. This local frenzy led to festival appearances and supporting slots with Smashing Pumpkins and Die Antwoord. After signing with Red Bull Records, they finally released the highly anticipated 5 song EP, The Rising. Currently in the studio working on tracks for their forthcoming full-length debut, the band will hit the road this summer on Warped Tour. Audiences nationwide will get the opportunity to experience what is arguably Nashville’s best kept secret. Technology strikes again.
