Jacuzzi Boys

Hailed by critics as “the most significant band Miami has produced in years” (Miami Herald) and loved for their sweat-soaked brand of melty garage rock, Jacuzzi Boys – Gabriel Alcala (guitar/vox), Diego Monasterios (drums), and Danny Gonzales (bass) – have released three full-length records since their humble beginnings in 2007.

The boys freaked their way through the swamps with their 2009 debut No Seasons (Florida’s Dying), a psycho stomp of a record, all hallucinations and hand claps. Enlisting the help of legendary engineers Bill Skibbe and Jessica Ruffins (Cass McCombs, Fiery Furnaces, the Kills), 2011’s Glazin’ (Hardly Art) welcomed natural evolution as their soupy sound continued to progress and transform structurally.

Following up their sophomore effort, in 2013 the trio released the self-titled third and most recent full-length to date, a hypnotic fusion of psych, surf and garage, chock full of earworms to critical press and a legion of new fans. Both Glazin’ and Jacuzzi Boys LP’s were recorded at Key Club (Bill Skibbe and Jessica Ruffins’ Studio) in Florida. Upon the release of the Jacuzzi Boys album the trio would eventually garner the support from punk legend Iggy Pop for their unique and intoxicating sound.

Their Happy Damage EP (2015) was recorded at Pine Crust Studio in Miami, FL with Jonathan Nunez of Torche, and the concurrent launch of their label MAG MAG, Jacuzzi Boys have dropped two more doses of their sun-squint sound. Both tracks from the EP “Happy Damage” and “Sun” reflect further progression for the trio, while the Dustin Aksland-shot video for “Happy Damage” encompasses the band’s magnetic, carefree attitude. The Happy Damage EP arrives 9/25 on MAG MAG.
