A fresh, dynamic string band forged in the white-hot fires of the Minneapolis live music scene, Stringdingers draw inspiration from a wide array of artists and genres to craft the signature blend of bluegrass, country, and funky jam improvisation that distinguishes their sound.

Each of the band’s songwriters evokes meditations on heartbreak, vengeance, fine Brazilian dining, and other key facets of the human experience through lyrics that at once recall the playfulness of John Hartford, the tenderness of Peter Rowan, and the habitual drunkenness of Hank Williams. Traditional bluegrass instrumentation provided by Jack Reuvers on mandolin, Alex Gelking on acoustic guitar, and Brett Mularkey on acoustic guitar and banjo, joins with Nick Spielman’s electric bass and Sam Kurachek’s drumset to create a broad sound palette that fuels the band’s diverse musical explorations.

Stringdingers blasted sky high out of the pile of hot garbage known as the year 2016 with a string of packed shows at The Cabooze (Useful Jenkins’ annual Front Porch Hoedown), The Hook and Ladder (with members of Tin Can Gin), the Cedar Cultural Center (Pistol Whippin Party Penguins’ annual Yuletide Sweater Ball), and finally a sold-out New Year’s Eve show with Useful Jenkins at the What’s Up Lounge in Mankato. Working tirelessly in the warm, woody depths of Cedar Tone Studios, Stringdingers are excited to release their first album in the early spring of 2017.
