Real Numbers has been with us since 2007, but much has changed since then. They are currently known for their jangly indiepop sound as heard on 2016's Wordless Wonder album and more recently their Brighter Then EP. This current indiepop era began in 2013 after their final UK DIY-style release, the Only Two Can Play EP. The band now moved away from the sounds of the early '80s and into the late '80s. Beginning in 2015, Real Numbers would spend a full year tracking their first official full-length album, Wordless Wonder, which was released in October of 2016 on Slumberland Records. Another version of "Frank Infatuation", this time a re-mix, would appear on a two song 7" the following year accompanied by a track which would herald things to come, the long and lush "Leave It Behind". After a west coast tour promoting the album the band could now work on softening their sound. The first examples of this would become the songs "Brighter Then" and "Darling", followed by "In The End" and "Old Cross", their most atmospheric songs to date. With that, the band entered A Harder Commune Studios in St. Paul, MN on October 13, 2019. Short recording and mixing sessions would continue until March 11, 2020. The full 5-song Brighter Then EP was released on March 19, 2021 through Slumberland and Meritorio Records. A new batch of songs is currently in the works.
