Candor and craft are front and center on Erik Koskinen's new album, Erik Koskinen Live at The Real Phonic Radio Hour. Recorded at the monthly James J. Hill Library Radio Show featuring Erik's regular band Paul Bergen, Frankie Lee, and JT Bates. All fifteen songs capture the power of music made in synchronous time, place, and company. Koskinen, whose last two albums Keep It To Yourself and America Theatre showcased his witty lyricism, sharp tongue, and poignant songs, does them one better with Live, releasing some old favorites along with eight never-before-recorded songs.
Along with the band, Koskinen’s friends play along to some of the tunes for a rousing good time including crowd-favorite, “Detroit, Detroit”, with Dave Simonett, Ryan Young, and Tim Saxhaug of Trampled by Turtles. Other special guests on the album include Michael Rossetto, Jeremy Johnson, Richard Medek, Mike Lewis, Andy Dee, and Noah Levy. It is only right that the man who heads the best live band in the state is finally giving those homebound folks a taste of what they’re missing. Erik Koskinen Live at The Real-Phonic Radio Hour was recorded between 2011-2015 by Tom Garneau.
