Blake Mills

Blake Mills has proven to have one of the most diverse, surprising and unexpected careers in music today. As a singer-songwriter, he quietly released his first solo album, Break Mirrors, to much acclaim in 2010, following his tenure with his first group, the beloved Simon Dawes (now well known simply as “Dawes”), which he co-founded in high school with Taylor Goldsmith. Mills’ sprawling talents were on display via his second, full-length album, Heigh Ho released in 2014 via Verve/Record Collection.

He has also become renowned as a highly individual musical collaborator, deploying his skills onstage and in studio sessions with a wide array of musical figures ranging from Fiona Apple, Julian Casablancas, and Rick Rubin to Lucinda Williams, Jackson Browne, Band of Horses and Cass McCombs. As a producer, Mills has worked with the likes of Conor Oberst, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Sky Ferreira, Dawes, Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Jesca Hoop and Mt. Egypt. He most recently produced Sound & Color, the highly acclaimed sophomore album from the Alabama Shakes.
