Japandroids (JPNDRDS) is a two piece band from Vancouver, BC. This 'band' started in 2006 as a creative outlet for the post-teenage angst of Brian King and David Prowse. Originally intending to be a trio, the boys decided to forgo the logistical nightmare of having a 'lead singer' and do it themselves. As a consequence, Japandroids are 1 guitar, 1 set of drums, and 2 vocalizers. They call it garage rock. They don't care what you call it, as long as it's not minimal. Japandroids are maximal - a two piece band trying to sound like a five piece band.

Building on the buzz of 2008's Lullaby Death Jams and 2007's All Lies, Japandroids' debut full-length, Post-Nothing, was released in 2009 and immediately began garnering critical acclaim. Four months later, the record was named on numerous year-end lists -- earning best-of-2009 honors from Pitchfork, Spin, Stereogum, NME, Exclaim and many, many more. Tired of being forced to pick a label for their music, Brian (guitar) and Dave (drums) decided that their sound was simply "post-nothing." The album's nine gems confirm this: running the gauntlet of rock 'n roll sub-genres to the point that the boys are ripping off too many different bands to sound like any other duo making music right now.

In 2010, Japandroids devised a 7" series as a way to give something back to its fans. Recorded during the duo's brief period of time off between tours, each two-song 7" in the five-part series (released throughout the year) included an A-side of previously unreleased material written during the Post-Nothing sessions and a cover B-side. 2010 also saw the re-release of Japandroids' two pre-Post-Nothing EPs compiled together as No SinglesCelebration Rock, the long-awaited follow-up LP to Post Nothing, is due out in June 2012 via Polyvinyl Records.

Special Guests / Opening Acts:

AVI BUFFALO

A solo show at a much-loved vegan restaurant magnetized Avi Buffalo into a full band; full-band Avi Buffalo magnetized L.A’s Eastside musicians (plus they hit all the major press in the city before they had ANY kind of record out at all); and engineer Aaron Embry (Elliott Smith and Emmylou Harris sideman, among others) invited Avi Buffalo to help him test out the new studio he’d built in his house. This was the big leap—except for some after-class time at a local recording school, Avi Buffalo had never existed anywhere but a laptop or a really good house party.
