The Great Northern: A 10th Anniversary Preview Event

Jon Gilbert — Wed, 02 Sep 2026 16:03:05 +0000

The ticket limit is strict. Any attempt to exceed the posted ticket limit per customer or household, or to game the system in any way, will result in cancellation of orders without notice. There is a transfer delay for all tickets prior to the show.

For ten years, The Great Northern has given Minnesota’s artists and innovators a spotlight, its stories a stage, and our communities and visitors a reason to gather, get outside, and embrace the cold. This special evening celebrates our first decade and looks ahead to the next.

The night opens with welcome remarks from TGN Board Member Andrew Zimmern, setting the tone for an evening celebrating the people, places, and moments that make Minnesota worth celebrating. Get an exclusive first look at the 2027 festival lineup, and catch the Saint Paul premiere of Rooted: Stories from Minnesota’s Farming Future, The Great Northern’s original documentary exploring the impact of local small farmers on food sovereignty and Minnesota’s climate resilience.

Come celebrate where we’ve been, get a first look of where we’re headed, and raise a glass to ten winters of making winter matter.

Thank You to Our Supporters
This activity is supported, in part, by the City of Saint Paul Cultural Sales Tax Revitalization Program and Securian Financial.

An Evening With They Might Be Giants

Jon Gilbert — Tue, 14 Apr 2026 16:01:42 +0000

Minors over 16 allowed with their own parent/their own legal guardian with proof of guardianship.

2 very different shows. 2 “Evening with” performances.
8-piece band. 3 horns. 2 sets. 0 openers.
Starts early. Gets loud.

Renowned for their infamous live shows, They Might Be Giants has now expanded to an eight-piece band, including a three-piece horn section. Audiences can expect a spontaneous, sprawling, and utterly enthralling musical event unlike any other. Yes, TMBG is in top form and back on the road with a show that is truly ever-evolving. The first set of each night spotlights a different album, while the second set will draw from every era of their career — from the earliest days of Dial-A-Song and the platinum album Flood to their brand new 2026 releases. With all the favorites, remarkable deep cuts, and dazzling musical improvisations, each performance is a distinct celebration of the band’s singular songbook. These shows, along with the stand-alone EP, Eyeball, and all-new album The World Is to Dig, are all testament to the fact that this band will not slow down.

Jon Gilbert — Tue, 28 Apr 2026 16:03:55 +0000

You heard right: for the first time EVER, Shadow is going to be playing a set focusing solely on his groundbreaking 1996 debut album, Endtroducing….. He was ready to do it anyway, but the fact that Endtroducing is turning 30 years old made it a no-brainer.
