Sammy Bananas

Rising Brooklyn remixer and party maestro Sammy Bananas lives up to his name by crafting ecstatic tracks that ditch trendy production tricks in favor of pure pop satisfaction. Hook and melody are the consistent components of his dance music, which swerves through genre boundaries while maintaining a commitment to sparking club mayhem. Sammy is a skilled remixer, with reworks for Passion Pit, Kid Cudi and Chromeo under his belt, and these as well as his original tracks are loved and played by DJs across the globe. Traveling often, he brings his good-time DJ sets to dancefloors from Europe to Australia and everywhere in between.

With High Top Fades and Braids & Fades, his first two EPs on the influential Fool's Gold label, Sammy set the tone for his style, chopping up 90s R&B hits into quirky and infectious uptempo club tracks. This approach is still evident on his recent bootleg "My Body", which transforms snippets of R.Kelly's classic "Bump & Grind" into a near anthemic 2-step house jam. His first non-sample based song "Move Your Body" saw release in November 2010 on Fool's Gold Vol 1, a label compilation put out in partnership with Downtown Records. Telephoned, Sammy's collaboration with NYC vocalist Maggie Horn, has wowed listeners with their innovative approach to the cover song. On their self-titled EP on Fool's Gold, and through a series of mixtapes, the duo transform and mutate current hits and reshape them in their own image using Maggie's versatile voice and Sammy's production skills. Their first original tune "Hold Me" is out now on Scion A/V, but they keep their mission statement in mind by featuring a cover of their own song on the B-side of the release.
