Ceewhy

Ceewhy wants to create “music that brings out emotion and makes you feel.” His music will serve as a call to action or a soundtrack to cue up moments before the revolution along with simply making music to keep the club jumping. Being from Minneapolis, a place that endorses art, Ceewhy developed a healthy appreciation for music early. His father, renowned disc jockey, John Suttles assisted in cultivating his admiration for music with a vast vinyl collection and eccentric tastes. Ceewhy spent much of his childhood spinning these records for, literally, days at a time. His business sense was acquired from his mother.

His first musical creation was Dreams are Bulletproof, a testament to the immortality of hopes and dreams. Ceewhy would say, “People like Gandhi, Malcolm and Tupac’s words are still around even though they are not. Their dreams are still around. People still follow these men based on their dreams.” With his first musical output, Dreams, Ceewhy aspired to do the same putting forth words that channeled real emotion and meaning. The topics range from relationships (“In These Streets”) to self-empowerment (“Honest Prayer”) to bass-infused riding music (“Fly Niggas”). The trove of records on Dreams are Bulletproof symbolizes what Ceewhy desires to create in the industry: balance.

Black Art is Dreams on steroids with each of the songs above evolving into tracks with better song-writing and updated production. This album will serve as “Ceewhy for dummies.” “The Best to Do it” speaks to being young and successful, because you’re black. “Get Like Me” is a self-affirming track loaded with braggadocio slick talk and “Crazy Love” narrates a love experience we’ve all went through: experiencing a relationship that rocked you, but you wanted it to work out nonetheless. So far Black Art is Ceewhy at his musical peak. Producing quality music at a break-neck pace Ceewhy intends to release his annual summer mixtape, The Sickness part 2, also another full-length, and a surprise group project and many more projects continuing to produce exactly what his last album was called, black art.
