Babe Club

In the Summer of 2015, Corey Campbell taught Jenna Desmond to play the bass. Both in college, Corey was studying music, and Jenna psychology. Jenna grew up playing classical piano and would sneak into the music department to use their practice rooms. That is when the two met. Two weeks after Jenna picked up the bass she was performing alongside Corey in the touring act SUSTO. The two had recently started dating and collaborating, and they decided that their chemistry was good enough to live together, on and off the road.

After 3 years of crafting and shaping their sound while playing supporting roles in SUSTO, Jenna and Corey are stepping into themselves as Babe Club. “This is me getting to share my thoughts and story for the first time” says Desmond, “I’m on the road all the time with a bunch of guys. So, sometimes I feel far away, and I need to talk to a woman about s—t that’s really annoying.”

The duo is in the midst of self-producing and recording their first full length album. They started the recording process with producer Wolfgang Zimmerman (Band of Horses, Susto, She Returns from War) who pushed their creative limits and songwriting style. After recording a feature film score in their home studio, they decided to self produce and record the rest of the album themselves. On this upcoming LP, they are joined in their studio by drummer, Julius Deangeles (The High Divers). Although Corey and Jenna play most of the instruments on the record themselves they perform live as a five piece band.

Their musical process is truly symbiotic. The song ideas have their genesis in Jenna’s mind and are brought to life by Corey’s diverse music background. Both Jenna and Corey are heavily involved in the arranging process, and on their upcoming LP Corey is stepping into the role of producer and engineer.

“Hate Myself,” Babe Club’s debut single, was released on October 12, 2018. The song is written from Jenna’s perspective and is about the growing pains in your life that take a while to heal. Corey brews up dreamy melodic guitars, floating synths, and a grooving rhythm section to accompany Jenna's dreamy lyrics.
