ME AND MY ARROW
"There's been a lot of talk about the size of local band Me & My Arrow, but it's warranted, since there are only a small handful of Minneapolis stages that can accommodate them comfortably. They've recently trimmed down from nine members to a relatively lean seven, but in order to pull off the anthemic, heavily layered sound that's become the band's stock-in-trade, the largeness is a necessity rather than overkill.
SKY LION
Sky Lion's self-titled debut EP almost became another time-honored rocker lament: the album that came together so well but, through the twists of circumstance, never got released. After a one year hiatus of sitting on the record, the three-piece folksy rock band from both Minneapolis, MN and Eau Claire, WI will finally be releasing the disc. Singer/songwriter Dexter Wolfe, bassist/guitarist Jordan Morantez and then-drummer Charles Garetz pressed the album in Summer 2010, but Wolfe heading back to college and the loss of Garetz stalled the album until fall.
NOW AND FOREVER
Based out of Minneapolis, MN the group brings a refreshing blend of ambient rock music to the land of 10,000 lakes. Since the release of their 2008 EP of wounds and blessings… the band (under the name Now and Forever) has gained substantial local and regional attention. "The King" is currently writing for their next release expected to be available in summer/fall 2009. Heavy touring plans lay ahead in hopes of establishing a healthy national following. Keep an eye on this hard working band. They won't be a Minneapolis secret for long...
