TRANSMISSION (12th Anniversary) : Common People
Presented by 89.3 The Current, The Electric Fetus, and City Pages
A night of 90's indie and alternative
featuring DJ Jake Rudh celebrating
Transmission's 12th anniversary
Keeping tradition alive, First Avenue plays host once again as Transmission turns another year older. For the occasion the event moves to a rare weekend night and goes 90's (with the occasional 80's cult classic thrown in for good measure). What to expect:
Alt Rock / College Rock / Indie Rock / Brit Pop / Dream Pop / Pop Punk / Shoegaze /
Electronic / Hip Hop / a bit of grunge / absolutely no nu metal / 100% music videos
The Electric Fetus will be on site selling alternative classics from both the 1980's and 90's on vinyl and City Pages will be there with a photo booth to capture your look.
Storyline to the evening: A romantic comedy about many of Minneapolis's 20 to 50 somethings, most of whom live in the same apartment building and whose lives revolve around the city's ever-expanding music scene. The inter-related stories about each character's progress through the Transmission scene are intriguing and often very funny, and the soundtrack is a 90's fanatic's dream, with the likes of Beck, Belly, Bjork, Blur and the Breeders...and that's just the B's!
Music and videos start right at 8pm and continue until we close the joint down at 2am.
