QUICKSAND
QUICKSAND
Quicksand were one of the most influential New York post-hardcore bands of the early to mid-90's, led by Gorilla Biscuits mastermind/guitarist Walter Schreifels and featuring ex-members of Gorilla Biscuits, Bold, Youth Of Today, Absolution, and Beyond. Quicksand provided the blueprint for many bands to follow in their footsteps. The band released two widely-acclaimed albums in Slip and Manic Compression before disbanding in 1995. In 1997, Quicksand reunited, and embarked on a successful tour in 1998 with The Deftones. Towards the end of the year they entered the studio to begin work on a follow-up to Manic Compression, but tensions within the band caused them to split up again. As of mid-2012, Quicksand is reuniting again for shows.
SINGLE MOTHERS
Based out of London, Ontario Canada, Single Mothers plays a style of punk/post-hardcore that is both high in energy and layered with creativity. There is a level of honesty that vocalist Andrew Thomson gives with every song and performance that is jaw dropping and hair raising. This 7” EP serves as a unforgiving confessional of late intoxicated nights and sexual deviant behavior. Imagine a hybrid of The Hold Steady and The Bronx with a grimy overtone all it’s own.
