Due to popular demand, we are proud to include DJ Aldric to the HotDish movement. The man has been a true staple in Minneapolis funky-ish for as long as we can remember. He’s held down multiple residencies throughout the Twin Cities and is responsible for uniting hip-hoppers, punk-rockers, EDM’ers, and your mama on the dance floor. His unique blend of anything and everything funky, with an amazing understanding of the music, has created a true following for Aldric. We’re so excited to have him!
Also on the bill is Minneapolis’s own Aaron Brooks. For the past few years, Aaron has dropped his skills at numerous dark rooms in the city and has quickly put together a resume of fellow dance music enthusiasts who will vouch his ability to make you move. Aaron considers himself a purist, and baulks at the commercialism of the modern day club scene. With an underground background, and passion that would scare any garden-variety DJ; His deep & jackin, groove oriented style of dance music will erase all sense of time, and put your mind in a fog until the lights (sadly) come on.

Come get down on camera! We will have the HotDish Video Booth up and ready for you to have fun with. Get stupid, get crazy, finally kiss that girl/guy you wanted to and get it captured on camera! For all that come, we encourage you to step out of your shell for a moment. Dont worry, no weird ingredients for this party, but come prepared to have some fun and be an integral part of what HotDish is all about…makin new friends and having a great time!!! So get on it and tell all your friends. We want this to be a sick party. It's $5 cover ($4 if you are wearing something that glows) and you should enter the Record Room Door located on the right hand side of First Avenue. That way you get in to our show, and have FREE crossover to TOO MUCH LOVE!!!

AARON BROOKS
Aaron Brooks, also known as Aaron 'Jackin' Joseph, has been beat matching in one way or another since he was 12 years old. Originally from Chicago, he has been inspiring late-night hand-holding in Minneapolis for the past two years. Sharing turntables with modern-day rock stars such as Onur Ozer & Raiz; (AKA Acid Circus) And Frequenting @ The Slam Factory, Soundbar, First Aves. Record Room, Tantric Lounge, and other various dark rooms in the city, he's quickly put together a resume of fellow dance music enthusiasts who will vouch his ability to make you move. Aaron considers himself a purist, and baulks at the commercialism of the modern day club scene.

Aaron's life-long love of dance music & extensive Ableton Live training has yielded a contract with "Berlin Aufnahmen," a brand new label out of Germany, who to date, have had several "top 100" Beatport releases. Check out his track "FunKnob," on their compilation, From Berlin, and also his FunKnob EP recently released on Benny Productions and debut # 3 & 4 on the labels top ten tracks! Witness a man who prides himself most on the common bond he shares with his dance music family; a man who treats the mutual inspiration given & received like his most cherished family heirloom, and who's passion for dance music will most definitely inspire far past bar close.
HOTDISH
HotDish is both a collaborative of djs (Nate Laurence & J. Matthews) and a Minneapolis-based event crew. HotDish values the diversity of EDM in the Midwest, yet it is our aim to provide a space for - above all else - funky, new-school, and soulful house music in the Twin Cities. HotDish (hosts of the best funky-house parties in the Twin Cities since 2006) showcases talent that is pioneering and unifying - both local and international icons of this genre.

HotDish (1ST SATURDAYS @ BLACK) occurs EVERY FIRST SATURDAY of the month at the infamous First Avenue Record Room. The HotDish Mission: to provide a venue for the HotDish sound while fostering the local scene in a spirit of collaboration and unity. Guiding principles make us aware of malicious social structures so we encourage both diversity and philanthropy. We reach out to foster the underground EDM and hip-hop cultures of the Twin Cities to preserve who we are.

Every Saturday in The Record Room
Saturday nights in the Record Room are thudding with the sounds of the underground while an eclectic mix of party-goers gather downstairs for Too Much Love. The music upstairs - a fervent big brother to the sounds below - is hosted by techno heads Particle People, techno/house dynamos Loud + Clear, and funky house doctors HotDish. These three crews work collectively to institute a dance-culture favorite in Minneapolis - fittingly dubbed BLACK (if you've been in the Record Room, you know why).

If persistence and passion is a recipe for success, Nate Laurence (Minneapolis, MN, USA) characterizes the journey. Nate is the quadruple threat: veteran DJ since 1994, prolific producer, event-coordinator, and label owner.

Under the moniker “DJ Nickles,” J Matthews has made incalculable cameo appearances at nearly every Twin Cities nightclub and multiple raves since the early 90s, in addition to high-profile performances at the long running “Bump” at the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, MA. Today, Matthews continues to showcase his talent throughout the cities while holding down his residency at First Avenue and working tirelessly on his International on-line radio show “Funk Yeah FM” on ChicagoHouseFM.com.
