SKY LION EP Release Show
SKY LION
Sky Lion's self-titled debut EP almost became another time-honored rocker lament: the album that came together so well but, through the twists of circumstance, never got released. After a one year hiatus of sitting on the record, the three-piece folksy rock band from both Minneapolis, MN and Eau Claire, WI will finally be releasing the disc. Singer/songwriter Dexter Wolfe, bassist/guitarist Jordan Morantez and then-drummer Charles Garetz pressed the album in Summer 2010, but Wolfe heading back to college and the loss of Garetz stalled the album until fall. The addition of drummer Kevin Goff, who played with Morantez in previous bands, adds a rock-and-roll sonic bulk to Sky Lion's nod-along folk groove.
COLDER IN MOSCOW
Formed back in 2008, Colder in Moscow earned success early on with their debut release, Great Speculation. Hot on the circuit, CIM played the legitimate clubs in town and opened for many of Minneapolis' finest, including the Love-Cars. In 2010, the drum chair opened up and Mound native Matthew Leonard joined the band. The band returned to Humans Win! Studio in August to begin work on a new album.
PRISSY CLERKS
It’s a brisk Saturday evening and Clara Salyer's new group, Prissy Clerks, which she formed last October, just won Vita.mn’s annual Are You Local? contest after a performance the previous night at First Avenue’s 7th St Entry.
