WANTS VS. NEEDS
Up and coming Dj/Producer/Remixer So Gold (aka David Brewer II) is starting to become a very sought after name in the city of Minneapolis for the past couple of years. Gaining National and Regional recognition from the beginning of 2007. Playing everything from Disco, Electro, Funk, House, Hip-Hop and Indie Rock. He has produced material that has been widely showcased in a number of DJ mixes and also released a very distinct and different sound of Baltimore Club remixes to the likeness of Disco, Indie Rock and Electro music genres.
Initially drawn to DJing because of a love of Hip-Hop and interest in scratching records Anton Pearson bought his first Technics 1200 turntable circa 1997. He started DJing at shows in 1999. From 2002 to 2003 Anton was the resident DJ (with DJ Espada as well) at the now infamous Loring Pasta Bar Hip-Hop night at the same time he was entering DJ battles and won the local Guitar Center battles both years progressing to regional finals. He also entered the Scribble Jam DJ Battle in 2002 and made it to the final four round.
Espada (aka Damien Vasquez) has been a mainstay in the Twin Cities DJ community for over 10 years. He came up with some of the Twin Cities most notable hiphop artists including Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Eyedea & Abilities and was one of the original DJs of RSE Radio. He's been a part of some of Minneapolis' most successful and respected hip hop nights at The Loring Pasta Bar, Rhymesayers' "Essential Elements" and "Let's Get Electric" with Mike the 2600 King.
Petey Wheatstraw (aka Pete Bekke)'s interest in DJing began during the hight of the DJ battle scene. Petey took that interest and made it a reality in 2003 when he got his hands on his first set of turntables. Petey got his start in the Minneapolis underground hip hop scene playing hip hop shows and parties but as his love for the craft increased he grew more and more interested in playing music that got people dancing. Stepping out of hip hop clubs and into dance clubs he saw the joy and success his playing brought to crowds who were interested in dancing & partying.
Booka B (aka Adam Bucher) is a native to the Twin Cities and has been DJing and producing since the mid 90’s.
