THE WORD PARTY
This is a band that plays music. The word "party" has come to mean, in our time, a gathering of people for the intent of fun and frivolity, dancing and debauchery, generally taking place at night. We are necessarily social creatures, and the will to party has it's root in our very DNA. We find meaning not by wandering the world on our own, but by coming together. The ways we come together can be powerful or thoughtless, cheesy or preachy, simple or ritualistic, drunken or solemn, faithful or treacherous but the bottom line is we're all at this party, might as well dance.
DRAGONS POWER UP!
Dragons Power Up! is a rock group from St. Paul, Minnesota, formed in 2005 by multi-instrumentalists Mike Coyne, Dan Ries, Mike Ries, and Chris Tures. In 2011, Coyne left DPU! and the music world under amicable circumstances, at which point longtime producer/friend Spencer Wirth-Davis (Big Cats!) offered his services as full-time bassist/collaborator/member. Each member drawing from his own corner of musical influences, their sound marries loose, noisy guitars with tightly-wound rhythm section and vocals atypical of today's indie rock landscape. DPU!
