LADY D
In Chicago, the home of House, dreams of making it as a DJ are dashed every day. But not for DJ Lady D (Darlene Jackson) who began playing in 1995 and has been in demand ever since. Known, respected and followed, she remains the “People’s Choice”, with devotees among House-heads, wannabe DJ’s, party people, celebs, gays, artists, intellectuals, and so on. Lady D's productions and remixes have appeared on labels such as AfterHours, BlackJack, Vista, Body Music, Journeys By DJ's and her own imprint, D’Lectable. Her current Itunes podcast averages over 100 downloads daily and her mixes can be heard streaming on various online sites from AOL music to Music Choice. She’s self-produced over 50 promo mix CD's and her mixes are played routinely in restaurants, salons and boutiques the world over, not to mention radio shows such as Chicago’s Q101, XM radio’s ‘The Move’, Vibe101 FM (Galaxy 101) and various internet radio shows and podcasts around the globe.

Along with her production and remix credentials, Lady D got her skills in A&R with AfterHours Records where she was responsible for giving Kaskade his career start and signing projects from Full Intention, Miguel Migs, Derrick Carter to name a few. So it was no surprise when in 2004 she partnered with a former music manager from BMG Canada and launched her namesake label, D'lectable Music (Ilovedmusic.com). At D'lectable she continues to launch new careers along with releasing music from artists like DJ Sneak, Ron Carroll, Prairie Cartel, Creep, Mark Grant, E-Smoove, Jamie Principle and more.
As a largely requested DJ, Lady D has performed for celebs like Billy Corgan, Queen Latifah, Dennis Rodman, Black Eyed Peas and the cast of Cirque Du Soleil. She’s graced decks for fashion giants Diesel, Hugo Boss, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s and cosmetics companies Benefit and Skin Market. She's been billed with Francois K, King Britt, Samantha Ronson, Henry Rollins, Sandra Collins, Kevin Hedge, Ron Trent and more. The limelight has followed her career carefully and in addition to various film, tv, documentaries and videos, Lady D has been featured on magazine covers and in stories in Billboard, Spin, Urb, iDJ, XLR8R, DMA, DJ, Chicago magazine, UR, 5 and many more. DJ Lady D is a name that people have come to know, count on and trust. A pillar of the Chicago house scene, she's been a constant player at Smart Bar and is a resident at the city’s most famous and longest running party, Boom Boom Room. This year, she was featured at The Wanderlust Festival and Lollapalooza’s 20th Anniversary on Perry’s stage.
One thing DJ Lady D loves as much as music is travel and, as an international DJ, her travels have taken her to places in Europe, Asia and extensively across the US, Mexico and Canada. She has played mainstream tours with Slater Hogan and her partners in SuperJane: Colette, Heather and Dayhota. Every day, DJ Lady D proves if you have talent as well as commitment, you can make it as a DJ anywhere - including Chicago.

HotDish (1ST SATURDAYS @ BLACK) occurs EVERY FIRST SATURDAY of the month at the infamous First Avenue Record Room. The HotDish Mission: to provide a venue for the HotDish sound while fostering the local scene in a spirit of collaboration and unity. Guiding principles make us aware of malicious social structures so we encourage both diversity and philanthropy. We reach out to foster the underground EDM and hip-hop cultures of the Twin Cities to preserve who we are.
BLACK
Every Saturday in The Record Room
Saturday nights in the Record Room are thudding with the sounds of the underground while an eclectic mix of party-goers gather downstairs for Too Much Love. The music upstairs - a fervent big brother to the sounds below - is hosted by techno heads Particle People, techno/house dynamos Loud + Clear, and funky house doctors HotDish. These three crews work collectively to institute a dance-culture favorite in Minneapolis - fittingly dubbed BLACK (if you've been in the Record Room, you know why).
NATE LAURENCE
If persistence and passion is a recipe for success, Nate Laurence (Minneapolis, MN, USA) characterizes the journey. Nate is the quadruple threat: veteran DJ since 1994, prolific producer, event-coordinator, and label owner.

J MATTHEWS
Under the moniker “DJ Nickles,” J Matthews has made incalculable cameo appearances at nearly every Twin Cities nightclub and multiple raves since the early 90s, in addition to high-profile performances at the long running “Bump” at the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, MA. Today, Matthews continues to showcase his talent throughout the cities while holding down his residency at First Avenue and working tirelessly on his International on-line radio show “Funk Yeah FM” on ChicagoHouseFM.com.
DJ XEL
DJ XEL is no stranger to electronic dance culture. This native Chicagoan started mixing old-skool funk and soul records at the age of 14. During the early years, DJ XEL teamed up with DJ Magic to rock house parties on the North Side of Chicago and later partnered with “the one and only DJ Sandy” to bring the Chicago and UK house sound to Florida as a resident DJ at Late Night Library and on 101.5 WXSR FM radio.
