Prayers For Atheists (PFA) is the first punk band signed to Strange Famous Records (SFR), the independent Rhode Island music label owned by renowned hip hop artist Sage Francis. Fronted by longtime SFR affiliate Jared Paul and Providence song writer Alan Hague, PFA delivers the well-crafted and thought provoking lyrics that listeners have come to expect from Strange Famous. Thrashing rapidly between mid-80’s hardcore punk, counter-culture victory anthems, and politically-slanted hip hop, Prayers For Atheists gracefully snake in and out of genres while escaping lazy categorization.

Using creative concepts to address pressing topical issues, the music remains fueled by the message, while the band demonstrates a sense of victory and hope. These songs are labor testimonials, dance jams, and anti-war hymns executed with heart, craft and integrity. PFA's 2009 self-titled 8 song EP was a forceful opening statement for a group who intends on shaking things up while having fun doing it. It’s not macabre music. And it’s not cynical. That would be too easy.

Guante is a hip hop artist, two-time National Poetry Slam champion, social justice activist and educator. He’s been featured in URB Magazine’s “Next 1000” list, City Pages’ “Artists of the Year” list, CMJ and the Progressive, and has shared bills with Talib Kweli, Atmosphere, Dead Prez, Sage Francis, Brother Ali, Mr. Lif, P.O.S. and many more of the top names in indie hip hop.

Claire de Lune grew up in New York City, grew up some more in Minneapolis, and lived in Austin somewhere in the middle. Her style reflects that vagabond past—an open-minded acceptance of the cosmopolitan sexiness of R&B, the dusty roots of indie, and the propulsive energy of hip-hop.

Our two tapes which comprise the Cuthica saga are available for free from Ass Records. Cuthica is the story of Raz, a child slave who rises to lead a jihad against the ruling class on the planet Cuthica. Much of the story unfolds through the eyes of two women who initially support the revolutionary movement but ultimately turn on Raz has he becomes increasingly twisted and powerful.

Sean Anonymous is a rapper. He is also a beat maker. He is also a guy that likes to talk about himself in third person. He performs as a solo act, but also rocks with a multitude of mega raw groups such as: wide EYES, Bottom Feeders, Dalia More Than Lights Officer Gentlemen and more. Sean is based out of Minneapolis, but plans to come to your city soon.
