ATNARKO

ATNARKO

Atnarko’s own sleek productions—which he describes as “funky and fun”—have been pressed for underground imprints like Nightshift Recordings, Tango, Lowdown and Robsoul. He joined Patrick Turner for “Explicit Theory” and has worked with folks as varied as drum ‘n’ bass eradicator AK1200 and house-diva DJ Heather. His collaborations with British house-legend Huggy as “Formidable Force” for the 2020 Vision label has indeed landed in the record crates of the world’s top house DJs who prize their quirky, yet floor-movin’ vibes. Atnarko has licensed tracks to over many comps including OM, Fabric, Street Beat, Fat City and more He’s also an in-demand remixer and well travelled club DJ who wants nothing more than to drop a groove down your spine (and inspire a smile on your face).

His long-time relationship with the like-minded Q-Burns Abstract Message continues to renew his creative energies. Their monthly “Club Queso” event is known as one of Orlando and New York’s most notorious (and intoxicated) nights of four-on-the-floor debauchery. Things do tend to get pretty crazy there, and costumes are usually warranted. Atnarko also co-owns EIGHT-TRACKS, a vinyl based label dedicated to releasing conceptual house music with a post-modernist—read: subversive—slant.

HOTDISH

HOTDISH

HotDish is both a collaborative of djs (Nate Laurence & J. Matthews) and a Minneapolis-based event crew. HotDish values the diversity of EDM in the Midwest, yet it is our aim to provide a space for - above all else - funky, new-school, and soulful house music in the Twin Cities. HotDish (hosts of the best funky-house parties in the Twin Cities since 2006) showcases talent that is pioneering and unifying - both local and international icons of this genre.

HotDish (1ST SATURDAYS @ BLACK) occurs EVERY FIRST SATURDAY of the month at the infamous First Avenue Record Room. The HotDish Mission: to provide a venue for the HotDish sound while fostering the local scene in a spirit of collaboration and unity. Guiding principles make us aware of malicious social structures so we encourage both diversity and philanthropy. We reach out to foster the underground EDM and hip-hop cultures of the Twin Cities to preserve who we are.

BLACK

BLACK

Every Saturday in The Record Room

Saturday nights in the Record Room are thudding with the sounds of the underground while an eclectic mix of party-goers gather downstairs for Too Much Love. The music upstairs - a fervent big brother to the sounds below - is hosted by techno heads Particle People, techno/house dynamos Loud + Clear, and funky house doctors HotDish. These three crews work collectively to institute a dance-culture favorite in Minneapolis - fittingly dubbed BLACK (if you've been in the Record Room, you know why).

Special Guests / Opening Acts:

JEVNE

Known for playing live bass guitar along with his dj sets, Jevne has really set him self apart! Jevne has been mixing and playing bass for over 17 years and fuses live six string bass guitar with original house music & edits while in the mix! From deep to teky from soulful to pumping, Jevne's sets are a journey through house music. Finding his love for dance music back in the late 80's attending rave events in Minneapolis, Jevne's passion for music later led him to pick up djing in Colorado in 93.

J MATTHEWS

Under the moniker “DJ Nickles,” J Matthews has made incalculable cameo appearances at nearly every Twin Cities nightclub and multiple raves since the early 90s, in addition to high-profile performances at the long running “Bump” at the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, MA. Today, Matthews continues to showcase his talent throughout the cities while holding down his residency at First Avenue and working tirelessly on his International on-line radio show “Funk Yeah FM” on ChicagoHouseFM.com.

NATE LAURENCE

If persistence and passion is a recipe for success, Nate Laurence (Minneapolis, MN, USA) characterizes the journey. Nate is the quadruple threat: veteran DJ since 1994, prolific producer, event-coordinator, and label owner.
