$3 crossover or Free entry to TOO MUCH LOVE (if you enter the Record Room Door)

We know that its the day AFTER new years eve, but thats a good thing. This night is all about the TRUE party hard people. So dont let some lousy hangover tell you whos boss. You are you're own person and you dont want some stupid hea...dache telling you what to do. So get on up, strap on your dancin shoes and get ready to dance your headache goodbye! (Ok, you can drink your hangover away too). HotDish is proud to bring you some of the staples and newer peeps in the twin cities dance night scene:

Blaklite - AKA Storm & Flo - These two guys bring the funky and electro sounds that keep peace and unity together. Debuting the new name Blaklite is a big deal for these two.

Kyle Wyld - Rockin and rollin, shuckin and jivin, Kyle Wyld has been around the 612 DJ scene for a very long time. We finally have the opportunity to bring in this house music aficionado to bring the funk back to funky house. Kyle's style is a very strong mix of the old and new of both Funk and Jack.

J Matthews - HotDish, Funk Yeah! FM - Ok, I am biased because I am writing this event invite so it would be wrong to talk about who I am as a DJ. I like long walks on the beach, listening to "honky tonk" albums, and chocolate chip cookies. Some would call me the cookie monster. I am so honored to be a part of the HotDish nights and to be able to DJ for you fun lovin criminals.

Jake Encinas - Ok, so this F**in guy right here you see... he went to Technics school in England! He has DJ'ed professionally on two continents for over 10 years! He's a rock star and very loved in this city. On top of that, he is riddiculously good with house music selection and making people hate that they have to leave the club at 2AM. He will be melting faces at hotdish for your day number 1 of 2011. Nuff Said.

Every Saturday in The Record Room

Saturday nights in the Record Room are thudding with the sounds of the underground while an eclectic mix of party-goers gather downstairs for Too Much Love. The music upstairs - a fervent big brother to the sounds below - is hosted by techno heads Particle People, techno/house dynamos Loud + Clear, and funky house doctors HotDish. These three crews work collectively to institute a dance-culture favorite in Minneapolis - fittingly dubbed BLACK (if you've been in the Record Room, you know why).

HOTDISH

HOTDISH

HotDish is both a collaborative of djs (Nate Laurence & J. Matthews) and a Minneapolis-based event crew. HotDish values the diversity of EDM in the Midwest, yet it is our aim to provide a space for - above all else - funky, new-school, and soulful house music in the Twin Cities. HotDish (hosts of the best funky-house parties in the Twin Cities since 2006) showcases talent that is pioneering and unifying - both local and international icons of this genre.

HotDish (1ST SATURDAYS @ BLACK) occurs EVERY FIRST SATURDAY of the month at the infamous First Avenue Record Room. The HotDish Mission: to provide a venue for the HotDish sound while fostering the local scene in a spirit of collaboration and unity. Guiding principles make us aware of malicious social structures so we encourage both diversity and philanthropy. We reach out to foster the underground EDM and hip-hop cultures of the Twin Cities to preserve who we are.

Special Guests / Opening Acts:

J MATTHEWS

Under the moniker “DJ Nickles,” J Matthews has made incalculable cameo appearances at nearly every Twin Cities nightclub and multiple raves since the early 90s, in addition to high-profile performances at the long running “Bump” at the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, MA. Today, Matthews continues to showcase his talent throughout the cities while holding down his residency at First Avenue and working tirelessly on his International on-line radio show “Funk Yeah FM” on ChicagoHouseFM.com.

JAKE ENCINAS

Jake Encinas has been spinning House, Progressive and Electronic Dance for 10 years and on two continents. Receiving a formal DJing and Promoting education from the Technics DJ Academy at School of Sound Recording in Manchester, England, Jake cut his teeth in Manchester clubs like Font, Sound Bar, and Orange Grove before returning to the United States.
