THE MAD RIPPLE

The Mad Ripple is the nom de guerre of longtime Minneapolis writer and music lover Jim Walsh (Laughing Stock, REMs, Two Tornados). This debut release finds him rediscovering his voice after a California hiatus. Returning to Minneapolis, Walsh reconnected with old friends forming a recording-collective of rock and Americana royalty including members of Son Volt, the Jayhawks, the Gleam, and many more. His first solo album, 2007’s Sink and/or Swim was a statement of hope, family, truth, and irony and his newest, Her Tattoos Could Sink Ships, is steeped in the rich history of story telling in music.

In addition to his life as a writer, musician, and father, he is also a curator of sorts organizing a weekly “Hootenanny”. These weekly gigs have become a Twin Cities icon as musicians of all ilks stop by to share, play, and sing in such an intimate and communal atmosphere that you have to come see one to believe it… The Mad Ripple Hootenanny.
