Tomorrows Bad Seeds are getting ready to head out for “The Superbad Summer Tour” co-headling with The Supervillains and continuing on the road to be apart of “Warped Tour 2011”. In the midst of the 2 tours they will be pushing their new single “Nice & Slow," expected to be released later this summer. January of 2011 began with an ignited fire for the band. On January 12 they filmed their first national TV appearance for The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson which aired March 3, 2011. By the end of January TBS headed out for a four week tour with the legendary Wailers. Within days of the tour ending they teamed up with Katchafire and stayed on the road. Tomorrows Bad Seeds live shows provides a high-energy mix of rock, soul, pop, punk, reggae and hip hop guaranteed to move and inspire your soul. Since the band’s inception, they have shared the stage with the likes of UB40, 311, Slightly Stoopid, Pennywise, Pepper, The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Half Pint, The Expendables, Hed(pe), Eek-A-Mouse, Pato Banton, John Brown’s Body, The Aggrolites and Fishbone, just to name a few.
Tomorrows Bad Seeds continue to tour extensively amassing a large and loyal grassroots following which is rapidly gaining momentum. If you pay attention to their tour ethic, you will see their dedication to their music and fans. Following a sold out performance at the world famous Roxy Theatre on Sunset Blvd, the band went on the road with The Expendables touring in April 2010. In July the band showcased at the 2010 Warped Tour. With much anticipated buzz surrounding Tomorrows Bad Seeds, they shut down the 2010 Sunset Music Festival in August headlined by the Smashing Pumpkins. By October the band was back on the road for a co-headlining tour with Passafire.
In this increasingly uncertain economical and political world we live in, Tomorrows Bad Seeds prove to be extremely talented musicians, vocalists and entertainers as a whole, using their music to spread conscious lyrics for the conscious mind. In 2007 Tomorrows Bad Seeds signed with Urbantone Records as a vehicle to spread their seed, the band released their debut album Early Prayers in June 2007, featuring the singles "Rhyme & Reason," "Vices," "Warrior Poet" and "Love Street." ("Love Street" hit # 3 on the Hawaiian charts.) Tomorrows Bad Seeds released their sophomore record entitled Sacred For Sale on May 25, 2010 with UrbanTone Records. “We’re so versatile because we come from such a melting pot of music here in the South Bay,” Moises said. “…We all grew up on punk, and then hip hop kinda came and took over, but we all loved oldies back in the day…we all surf too…it’s really just a blend of everything.”
PASSAFIRE
Ted Bowne - Guitar/Lead Vocals
Will Kubley - Bass/Vocals
Adam Willis - Keys
Nick Kubley – Drums
Passafire released Everyone on Everynight through LAW Records on September 15, 2009. This is the follow-up to their sophomore album, Submersible, which was recognized by iTunes as one of the “Top 10 Best Reggae Albums” of 2007.
For the new release, iTunes highlighted Passafire by featuring them on the music homepage as well as the reggae page by offering “Here In Front Of Me” from Everyone on Everynight in their distinguishing Discovery Download program. The album release debuted at #1 on iTunes reggae chart, and #6 on the Billboard reggae chart.
Calling Savannah, GA home, Passafire was formed in 2003 by students attending Savannah College of Art and Design. After performing on a stage outside Atlanta’s Hi Fi Buys Amphitheatre in 2006 where the hybrid rock band, Pepper, was opening for 311, a member of Passafire slipped to Pepper a copy of the band’s self-titled debut album, Passafire. Pepper had just founded the independent LAW Records with plans to selectively recruit and nurture bands they actually experienced and were impressed by while out on the road – as opposed to sitting in some distant office and combing through piles of demos. “We’re out there every day, meeting and playing with new bands,” says Pepper bassist/singer, Bret Bollinger. “It’s not a guessing game. We get to meet them, watch them live…”
“And spot their work ethic,” Singer/guitarist, Kaleo Wassman interjects with emphasis.
Passafire developed their sizable fanbase by logging miles all over the US (particularly, in the southeast), which attracted the established booking agent, Monterey International who has taken the band to the next level of touring. Passafire has performed with a variety of major acts including The Wailers, Van Halen, Israel Vibrations, 311, Toots and the Maytals, Los Lonely Boys, Bares Hammond, John Brown’s Body, Matisyahu, the Aggrolites and Dub Trio. The band lives on the road, playing live throughout the year. Singer, Ted Bowne doesn’t mind the grueling schedule and adds, “Touring is the best way to keep the buzz about the band going. What keeps it fun and exciting is the people we meet and places we get to see. We are in a new city every day so there’s always something to go see or do. If we didn’t tour constantly, we wouldn’t be doing as well as we are. That’s a fact.”
After two years since the last album and more than 300 shows, conceptualizing all the while, Passafire recorded the new album at the Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas. Self-described “total gear heads,” the band has built on the foundation of Passafire and Submersible an adventurous expansion, an ironic twist that reaches into previously unexplored sonic territories while taking full advantage of the warmth and accessibility of analog technologies that this studio provided.
Horns appear on three tracks and throughout singer, Ted Bowne, plays on a variety of classic guitars paired with vintage tube amps while Adam Willis is off in keyboardist’s heaven, incorporating the venerable Hammond B3 as well as the Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos. The brothers, Will and Nick Kubley anchor their rhythm section. Highlights from their studio sessions can be seen on http://www.youtube.com/user/passafiretheband
“We always wanted to have a good balance of organic and synthesized sounds and we finally had the chance to make that happen this time,” recollects Bowne.
