Special Guests / Opening Acts:

LOOKBOOK

Lookbook was formed in mid-2008 by Maggie Morrison (Digitata) and Grant Cutler (Passions, Tomhanks) in Minneapolis. Combining Cutler’s sparkling, synth-laden sounds and sparse guitar with Morrison’s Pat Benatar-meets-Chrissie Hynde vocals, the band garnered rave reviews and an energetic following for a sound that’s at once familiar and unique.

COMMUNIST DAUGHTER

A few years ago John Solomon walked away from music. After a long struggle with addiction and a brief stint in jail he broke up his critically acclaimed band Friends Like These and moved to a small town in Wisconsin. And supposedly that was that.  Even though Solomon left music, music never left him. After a long hiatus, he called some friends to come to Wisconsin and demo up a new album....

MARK WHEAT

Mark Wheat is heard weekdays 6-10 p.m. on The Current and a DJ with the station since it launched in 2005. He tries to emulate his hero, the late, great BBC DJ John Peel, introducing new music to the audience by mixing it with songs they know and love. Wheat was raised near Cambridge, England, permanently relocating to the United States in 1983. In 1991, he created "Local Sound Department" on KFAI, which was awarded "Best Local Radio Show" by the Minnesota Music Academy in 1996-1998.

DJ ESP aka WOODY MCBRIDE "The Genius of Fun"

American elektro-shaman Woody McBride, aka DJ ESP, rocks the world with his unique style of tribal techno, acid house, elektro, ambidelics, hardtek psytek and authentic minimal electronic music.
