THE MAGNOLIAS

Date:
Saturday, May 31, 2008

The two decades since the band's inception have seen music critics call The Magnolias "Minneapolis' scruffy also-rans" and "little brothers" of more well-known Twin Cities groups The Replacements, Husker Du and Soul Asylum. And although The Magnolias were a few years younger than these bands, passage of time has revealed what fans knew since the Reagan years at their best, The Magnolias were second to none.

THE HARD LEFT

The Hard Left on Myspace

"The Hard Left hail from Minneapolis, and they have the garage power-pop sound the area is known for (i.e., The ’Mats). This release is an 8-track mini-CD that’s all killer, no filler with the top tracks being "Lover Girl", "Who She’s Gonna Turn To" and "Take It Out On Me"....If Steven Van Zandt isn’t featuring these guys on his Underground Garage, it’s probably because he hasn’t heard them yet." THE SERVICE INDUSTRY

Formed in the summer of 2005,various members of underrated musical projects based out of Austin, Texas and Lawrence, Kansas vented their hatred of working in service industry jobs into a poisonous tirade against the American classes who demand extra salad dressing and flawless table service with their debut album, 'Ranch Is The New French" in October of 2006.
