July 2nd: The Roots

Though The Roots have taken a break from the majorly exhaustive touring they use to do to back in the day, the much-loved, much-admired hip hop group will be stopping by First Avenue's Mainroom on July 2nd.

The Roots, comprised of Black Thought, ?uestlove, Kamal, Capt. Kirk, Tuba Gooding Jr., and F Knuckles, have recently become the house band for the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon using their song "Here I Come" for the theme song. Besides jamming with Fallon and doing weekly shows at New York's Highline Ballroom and promoting their veggie lovin' with PETA, they are/have been working on their new album How I Got Over which explores a George Bush free White House and the feelings that come with having President Obama in office.
