Caribou release exclusive Live Double LP on tour

Announced today via their website, psych band Caribou are releasing an exclusive live double LP of their 15 piece superband set from last years ATP New York Festival. What makes this release so exclusive? It will only be available at their shows. No other record store or music stop will carry its release, and it just so happens the band is making a stop in the Mainroom on September 27th. Just sayin. Check out the video for Caribou's latest single "Sun" below and enjoy the show on the 27th.

End of Summer Party!

On Sunday, September 5th, First Avenue along with Genius of Fun and City Pages are celebrating the end of Summer as we know it. All good things must come to an end and Summer 2010 is no exception. But, instead going out with whimper it's going out with a bang with a full on party in the Mainroom. Featuring DJ sets from Solid Gold, Lookbook, Communist Daughter, Mark Wheat, and DJ Esp Woody McBride this is a celebration you won't want to miss.

Nas & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley rock Mile High

This past weekend, distant relatives Nas & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley rocked the Mile High Festival in Colorado. Interviewed on the scene by SPIN Magazine, Nas & Damian gave an interesting view on their show and future plans. You can check out the interview below and witness the legendary duo in the Mainroom on September 6th. Also, don't forget to attend the after party in The Record Room. It'll probably be awesome.

Apocalyptica's 7th Symphony

Today marks the US release of Finnish band Apocalyptica's seventh studio album  "7th Symphony" as well as the beginning of their nationwide tour; which, includes a stop right here in the Mainroom on September 2nd. So before you strain your neck from headbanging, check out the cello metalists new single "End of Me" from "7th Symphony" below.

MARK MALLMAN: MARATHON 3

From October 7 through October 10 at The Turf Club, Mark Mallman will perform one of the greatest feats of his career thus far, the 78 hour-long song “MARATHON 3”.  It's been six years since the last Marathon and the third installment will include well over 500 pages of lyrics and close to 100 backup musicians over the course of 4 days.

Tribute to Paul McCartney

This Wednesday will see 12 artists paying tribute to the iconic Beatles member Paul McCartney. Locals The Melismatics, Blue Sky Blackout, White Light Riot, and more are set to play your favorite Beatles/Wings tunes in celebration of a true musical icon. So before you drown in a sea of nostalgia check out a great tribute video of man of honor below and stop by the show this Wednesday.

The Glitch Mob in the Mainroom

Electronic trio The Glitch Mob will be kicking off their North American tour this Friday in the Mainroom. Celebrating the release of their new album "Drink the Sea", it is somewhat of a departure from their previous works as live guitars and drums are used throughout the record and live shows. To prepare for their headlining set in the Mainroom you can see a great performance of their new song "Fistful of Silence" as well as read a great review of "Drink the Sea" below.
